About Darkmoon Designs
Darkmoon Designs is a small independent studio run by husband and wife team Lou and Phil in the North East of England.
Like many good ideas, it started by accident. After returning from a trip to Florida in 2022, Phil began painting miniature figures as a hobby. Lou suggested getting a 3D printer so he could try making his own. The first print was a complete failure that resembled a tangled pile of plastic spaghetti. A “spaghetti kitty” was born, and Phil was immediately hooked.
What followed was a crash course in making, experimenting, and learning everything the hard way. Early Darkmoon began at local craft fairs with dragons, curiosities and anything else we could figure out how to produce. Along the way we learned a lot about design, licensing, quality, and what we actually wanted to create.
Over time the focus shifted. Rather than simply printing things, we began designing our own pieces and developing a darker aesthetic rooted in gothic ornament, oddities, and unusual decor.
Today Darkmoon Designs is less about the tools and more about the ideas behind them. We create gothic home decor, sculptural wall pieces, curiosities and occasional one-off creations designed to bring character and atmosphere into unusual homes.
Some pieces are produced in small batches. Others exist only once. The aim is always the same: to create objects that feel distinctive, slightly strange, and unmistakably Darkmoon.
The journey is still evolving, and that is part of the fun.
